Adam & Bec’s Backyard Wedding in Capel | Relaxed Coastal Wedding at Peppermint Grove Beach

Some weddings just hit a little differently.

The ones where there’s history. Where it’s not just about showing up with a camera, it’s about being part of something that already means so much.

Adam & Bec’s backyard wedding in Capel was exactly that for me.

We go way back, so being there to photograph their wedding day wasn’t just work, it was genuinely an honour. One of those days that feels personal from start to finish.

We began the day down at Peppermint Grove Beach, where they chose to do their first look and bridal party photos. There’s something about starting a wedding day by the ocean that instantly sets the tone, relaxed, open, and full of that fresh coastal air. The moment they saw each other for the first time was quiet, grounding, and full of emotion.

No rush. No pressure. Just the two of them taking it all in before everything unfolded.

After spending time at the beach, we made our way back to Capel for their ceremony. Held in their own backyard, surrounded by the people who matter most, it felt intimate in the best way. Familiar, comfortable, and completely theirs. They were married by the gorgeous Abbey, who created such a heartfelt and personal ceremony. There was laughter, emotion, and that beautiful sense of connection that comes when everyone there truly knows you.

Following the ceremony, the afternoon flowed effortlessly. Guests mingled, drinks in hand, conversations carrying across the backyard. There was no strict structure pulling people away, just space to enjoy, to celebrate, and to be present in it all.

And that’s what made the day feel so easy.

As golden hour approached, we snuck away for portraits, one of my favourite parts of any wedding day. We headed to the bridge in Capel, if your a local, you know the one, where the light wrapped around them so perfectly. Soft, warm, and calm. It was one of those moments where everything slows down again, even just for a little while.

No posing. No pressure. Just Adam & Bec, together.

As the sun dropped and the night rolled in, the energy shifted into full celebration mode. The reception kicked off with all the fun, drinks flowing, music up, and the kind of carefree, slightly chaotic dance floor moments that make for the best memories. There were party games, plenty of laughs, and those slightly drunk, joy-filled moments that you never plan for but always end up being your favourites.

From start to finish, this day was everything a wedding should be.

Relaxed. Personal. Full of connection.

A backyard celebration surrounded by love, with the perfect mix of meaningful moments and absolute fun.

And for me, it was something even more special, being trusted to capture a day for people I’ve known for so long.

Something I’ll never take for granted.
